In May 2013 the very first PTA Drivers Experience Event was held on the SVR when 8 PTA Members had the chance to both drive and fire 1501 at the head of a 6 coach train (around 200 tons). This Event was held over two days with two return trips being made each day between Bridgnorth & Kidderminster with some 57 miles being covered each day. After hire fees had been deducted the PTS funds benefitted to the tune of £350.

Some two years later, in May 2015 a second PTA Drivers Experience was held, this time on just one day but again with a 6 coach train and two return trips on the line. Resulting profit for PTA funds was around £50.

A third and forth PTA Drivers Experience Events were held in September 2016 and June 2017 respectively, again on a single day with 6 coaches and two return trips over the line.

A fifth PTA Drivers Experience Event was held on Monday 25th June 2018 again on a single day but with only 3 coaches and two return trips over the line.

It is hoped to arrange more such events in the future if enough PTA Members are interested. The cost per Member driving will be around £200 and the number of Members per day is obviously limited. However, Members

can bring guests, family and friends at no additional charge.
